by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Tommy Ramage 1¾ Hrs
Tommy starts out by showing how to set the eyes in a regular manikin even though this mount will use a pre-set eye manikin. The Bear has already been skinned and fleshed. Originally this Bear had been skinned for a rug mount and was cut up the front to the chin. It was then trimmed too short in the front for a shoulder mount, but Tommy shows how to solve this problem. He applies Dry Preservative to the skin and bondos the ears. He prepares the manikin. Tommy sews up the incision in the front while the skin is inverted. He mounts the Bear and works on the face. The excess skin on the back is trimmed off and pinned in place in the brisket area. A few weeks later he completes the finish work – finish wax, installing plastic jaws and blending in with apoxie and then airbrushing. He also trims off some long hair on the back and glues it to some bare areas on the sides. Tommy turns a disaster into a beautiful mount!
