SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A WOOD DUCK HEN SITTING IN A LOG
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Tab Hinton ¾ Hr
Tab starts with a breast incision and skins the duck. The wire wheel is used to flesh and degrease the duck. He then soaks it in soapy water and Dry Preservative. (The skinning, fleshing & washing is done on a drake from video 89-DVD231) Dry Preservative has already been applied to the hen. He sets the eyes and mounts the duck on a urethane body. The wings are injected with denatured alcohol and formaldehyde. The hen is then placed inside of a hole in a section of tree. He positions the head, eyes/eye lids and opens her mouth. Freeze dried ducklings are added off camera. He sprays gloss on a paint brush to apply to bills.
