SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A SPECKLED BELLY GOOSE STANDING
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Steve German 1¾ Hrs
Steve starts with a breast incision and skins the goose. A throat incision is made to skin out and clean the skull. The wire wheel is used to flesh and degrease the goose. He then cleans the goose by soaking it in soapy water, then he explains how to soak it in coleman fuel. The goose is placed in a tumbler. He applies Dry Preservative and mounts the goose on a urethane body. After sewing up the incisions, he rough sets the eyes. He attaches the goose to a piece of driftwood and positions it. Then he tapes, cards and pins everything in place. He places a stem of rice grain in the mouth and pins shut. Then Steve shows how to paint the bill and feet.
