SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A PHEASANT STRUTTING
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Steve German 1¾ Hrs
Steve starts with a breast incision and skins the bird, including inverting the legs and wings. He opens the wattles so they can be filled with clay. A wire wheel is used to clean the skull, wing/leg bones and fat left on the skin. The washing and tumbling is explained. This bird is mounted on a urethane body in the strutting position. He then shows the pinning, taping feathers, positioning, grooming and setting eyes. Painting the feet, beak and wattles is also shown. This Pheasant and a standing alert Pheasant are then placed in a snow habitat together. Includes natural habitat base work.
