by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Greg Harris 1¾ Hrs
Greg starts with an already skinned Turkey, except for legs and wings. He shows how to use an incision under the wing to skin the wings out and how to skin the legs out. Then degreases the bird on a wire wheel. The bird is placed in a soapy wash and he explains about rinsing then using Coleman fuel and air drying. Dry Preservative is applied to the skin and then placed in a tumbler. Using a urethane body, he mounts the Turkey in a standing tall pose. Greg shows the preparation of a urethane turkey head – dremeling out the eyes, setting the eyes and painting the head. After the bird has been attached to a piece of driftwood in a base, he shows how to install the urethane head. Pinning the neck skin to the urethane head and final touches around the feather line are done. He shows how to inject and paint the legs and feet. Pinning, carding and support wires are done for the drying process. Includes natural habitat base work.
