PROPER SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A CANADA GOOSE COMING IN
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Terry Heuring 1 ¼ Hrs
Terry starts with a breast incision and skins the bird. A throat incision is made to skin out and clean the skull. He uses a wire wheel to do the degreasing. He then explains how to wash the skin in soapy water, coleman fuel and tumble to dry (not shown). Repairing a broken wing bone is shown. He applies Dry Preservative and the bird is then mounted on a urethane form. A support wire is inserted into the form before sewing the bird up. Carding/taping, setting the eyes and painting the feet and bill is also shown.
