SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A SNOW GOOSE IN FLIGHT COMING IN
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Steve German 1 ¾ Hrs
Steve starts with a breast incision and skins the goose. A throat incision is made to skin out and clean the skull. The wire wheel is used to flesh and degrease the goose. He then cleans the goose by soaking it in soapy water, then he soaks it in coleman fuel. Steve makes a wrap body from excelsior and twine while the goose soaks. The goose is placed in a tumbler. He applies Dry Preservative and mounts the goose. After sewing up the incisions, he rough sets the eyes. He attaches the goose to a piece of driftwood and positions it. Then he tapes the feathers in place and cards/pins the feet in position. He explains how to make a tongue for this open mouth mount. Steve also shows how to paint the bill and feet.
