SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A SNOW GOOSE STANDING
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Terry Heuring 2 Hrs
Terry starts with a breast incision and skins the bird. A throat incision is made to skin out and clean the skull. The wire wheel is used to flesh and degrease the duck. He then cleans the duck by soaking it in soapy water, then he explains how to soak it in coleman fuel. The duck is placed in a tumbler, during the tumbling process a wing bone puts a hole in the skin. Terry repairs the hole and the broken wing bone. He applies Dry Preservative and the duck is then mounted on a urethane form and the incisions are sewn up. The duck is placed on a urethane base, positioned and eyes are set. Painting of the bill and feet finishes this beautiful mount.
