SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A SPECKLED BELLY GOOSE COMING IN
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Steve German 2 Hrs
Steve starts with a breast incision and skins the goose. The flight tendons are removed when he skins the wings. A throat incision is made to skin out and clean the skull. The wire wheel is used to flesh and degrease the goose. He then cleans the goose by soaking it in soapy water, then he explains how to soak it in coleman fuel. The goose is placed in a tumbler. He applies Dry Preservative and mounts the goose on a urethane body. After sewing up the incisions, he rough sets the eyes. He inserts a support wire and attaches the goose to a piece of driftwood and positions it. Then he tapes the feathers in place, cards the feet, pins loose skin, inserts tail wires and wing support wires.. He installs a tongue that was made off camera.. Steve also shows how to paint the bill, tongue and feet.
