SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A RING-NECKED PHEASANT STANDING ALERT
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Steve German 1¾ Hrs
Steve starts with a breast incision and skins the bird, including inverting the legs and wings. He opens the wattles so they can be filled with clay. A wire wheel is used to clean the skull, wing/leg bones and fat left on the skin. The washing and tumbling is explained. This bird is mounted on a urethane body in the standing alert position. He then shows the pinning, taping feathers, positioning, grooming and setting eyes. Painting the feet, beak and wattles is also shown. This Pheasant and a standing alert Pheasant are then placed in a snow habitat together. Includes natural habitat base work.
