by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Greg Harris 1¾ Hrs
Greg starts with an already skinned Turkey, except for legs and wings. He shows how to use an incision under the wing to skin the wings out and how to skin the legs out. Then degreases the bird on a wire wheel. The bird is placed in a soapy wash and then rinsed. Greg then goes outside and places turkey in Coleman fuel. After air drying and blow drying the skin is tumbled for a few minutes. Dry Preservative is applied to the skin. He bondos the tail and positions it to dry. Using a urethane body, he shows how to alter the body and then mounts the Turkey in a strutting pose. The bird is then attached to a piece of driftwood in a base and he works on positioning. Pinning, carding and support wires are done for the drying process. Greg then shows how to paint a latex turkey head with Hydro-Mist paint, fills inside of head with urethane foam and attaches it to the body. He shows how to inject the legs and feet.
