SKINNING, FLESHING & MOUNTING A TURKEY IN A SPECIAL FLIGHT POSE
by Second 2 Nature Taxidermy Supply with Greg Harris 2 Hrs
Greg starts with a breast incision and skins out the Turkey. He uses an incision under the wing to skin the wings out. Then degreases the bird on a wire wheel. The bird is placed in a soapy wash, once removed it is rinsed, towel dried and placed in Coleman fuel. Using a urethane body, he mounts the Turkey in a flying pose. Greg shows the preparation of a urethane turkey head – dremeling out the eyes, setting the eyes and painting the head. After the bird has been attached to a tree limb, he shows how to install the urethane head. Pinning the neck skin to the urethane head and final touches to painting around the feather line are done. He shows how to inject the legs and feet. Final touches are done to the tree limb by adding some moss and greenery.
